Notes
Some headers should be added by your HTTP client automatically based on the type of request being made.
This includes connection
and host
.
It's sometimes useful to modify these headers in your request, but generally your HTTP client should do the right thing.
Chrome, Edge and Firefox send the fetch metadata request headers by default. You might need to modify or remove these headers depending on your use case. The details provided here are for when a document is being loaded directly (i.e. the user has typed the URL into a new tab). Safari does not currently send these headers. Chrome is the only browser that current sends the user-agent client hints headers.
Browsers will set the referer
header when navigating between pages on the same site.
Servers shouldn't expect this header, so it's normally safe to leave out.
Referer will always be missing if the page is loaded directly.
Wait, why is this useful? Sometimes it's handy to pretend to be desktop browser when you are making HTTP requests from scripts. Using the same headers as a common desktop browser should get you around basic bot protection mechanisms for your first HTTP request to a site.
SLA? Updates? Privacy?
You can use this site, including the JSON urls, however you want but availability is best effort. I use this in a few scripts and automations so I'll get annoyed if it goes down or is unstable. It's cheap to run so I have no problem keeping it up. If you want 100% reliability, copy the request headers JSON into your code manually.
I'll update the common browsers every few months. If you notice it really out of date feel free to bump me.
Like most services, the server for this site logs your IP address. Your IP address may also be used for rate limiting. No other personal information is stored.
